Here's an example of good old fashioned basic food. Nothing fancy but it's all good and the service is efficient and attentive.
Nothing stood out for special attention and it's not a destination place but the type you bring customers from the nearby chemical plants to for lunch. -

This place is trash. I walked in and had to figure out on my own if I sat myself or the waitresses seat you. One waitress is dressed like she just left the gym and the other like she's been sitting on a tractor all day. 45 minutes. That's how long I sat there while they hugged necks, waited on people that came in after me, and bullshitted with the locals before I said to hell with it and left.
Go somewhere else. This place is a redneck hangout and not worth an out-of-towners time. -

I went twice to this restaurant, first time mediocre food with descent service. The second time I had a awful meal and even worse service... I was seated by a waitress that seemed lost, but waited on by the owner I believe. He was vulgar cussing because the waitress didn't bring us silverware; we both requested water with our meals (because we were dehydrated after working in the heat) and he made the comment that he didn't make any money off of water. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and they made the comment proudly that they made a fresh pot yesterday... for whatever that means. Food was bland and the staple sides for most meals were coleslaw and fries... after eating hear I stopped by a fast food restaurant if that tells you how satisfied I was with my meal. This diner was one of the few we found in town for dinner, spend a few dollars more and go to one of the others which are surprisingly nice and reasonable for the quality of food, or skip dinner all together and hit a local fast food restaurant.... and you will be more satisfied.

With a name like this place has how can you NOT stop in to see what kind of grub they sling? Driving in to the heart of Donaldsonville I happened to look to my left and saw the named painted LARGE on the backside of the building and thought to myself "If I'm still here come lunch that's where I'm eating"
Sure enough I'm still in town around lunch time and being hungry I headed to this place...Mom & Pop joint, too good to be a dive but not good enough to be fancy...you walk in this joint and you just sense you gonna get a good meal for a reasonable price.... That's exactly what I got!
They have a full bar separated from the eating section by a lattice wall.... sturdy diner tables with sturdy diner chairs fill the place.... lots of Ascension Parish memorabilia mixed with LSU items hanging on the wall....
Nice menu filled with home cooking and seafood plus burgers and poboys... Prices are reasonable...
The specials on 1/23/15 were Shrimp stew served over potato salad or fried catfish plate.... went with the catfish since I hadn't had any in awhile....
It was an excellent choice! Fresh fillets, golden brown, fresh out of the greasel....DELICIOUS! But you gotta have good tartar sauce and they had it, great flavor with a little spice.... it was a great meal!!
Service was excellent and the owners were real friendly.... need a quick filling meal then give this place a try.... it's got my recommendation!
